Ban Tai Beach

Our south-coast base from mid-January to April. Ban Tai offers flat water for kite control, water starts and steady progression. We check the wind and tide before every lesson.

Thong Sala Beach

From May to October, we follow suitable wind days around Thong Sala. Wind is less frequent and more changeable in this period, so we plan sessions around the forecast rather than promise daily riding.

Chaloklum Bay

When the northerly winds arrive, we move to Chaloklum Bay. This quieter northern spot is our usual choice from November to mid-January, with flat water and slightly cooler temperatures.

Kitesurfing
Koh Phangan:
your questions

Practical answers about learning, equipment and choosing your time on the water with Fly High.

Ask us a question →
Can I learn to kitesurf in Koh Phangan as a complete beginner?

Yes. You can start with no kite experience. Your instructor introduces equipment, safety and kite control before moving on to water practice. We choose a suitable beach and adjust each lesson to your progress.

Which Fly High course should I choose?

Discovery is one lesson for 3,500 THB. Beginner includes three lessons for 11,000 THB and builds your foundations; it does not automatically make you an independent rider. Zero to Hero includes four lessons for 14,000 THB, adding edging and work towards riding upwind.

When is the best time for kitesurfing on Koh Phangan?

Our usual pattern is Chaloklum from November to mid-January, Ban Tai from mid-January to April, and Thong Sala on suitable days from May to October. The later season has less regular wind, so check with us before planning around a session.

Does the lesson always take place at Ban Tai?

No. Fly High is mobile: we choose between our Koh Phangan kite spots according to wind direction, tide and your level. We confirm the meeting location before your lesson.

Do I need to buy my own kitesurfing equipment?

No. We provide the equipment for your lesson, including Core and Flysurfer kites. Radio communication helps you hear instructions while practising on the water.

How do I arrange a kitesurf lesson in Koh Phangan?

Use Book Now to get in touch with Fly High. Tell us your preferred dates, experience and number of people. We will agree on a suitable time and beach once the conditions are clear.

What should I bring to the beach?

Bring swimwear, sunscreen and drinking water. A rash vest is useful for sun protection. Your instructor will explain which equipment you will use and how to prepare for the session.

What if the wind changes during my stay?

Kitesurfing depends on the weather, so lesson plans may change. We can adjust the time or beach and discuss the next suitable opportunity with you. Ask us about current conditions before making a special trip.

Can I rent a kite and board after my course?

Full-set rental is available for riders who can ride independently in the conditions on the day. A course alone does not guarantee readiness to rent. Speak with us about your level; the full-set rates are 1,400 THB for one hour or 3,500 THB for three hours.
